The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration issued multiple recalls last week, including nearly 154,000 for rearview camera issues.
More than 150,000 Nissan cars, including some Altima and Sentra models, were recalled for an issue with the camera harness. Kia also issued a recall for more than 18,000 Stinger vehicles from model years 2018-2021 for a problem with the fuel control valve.
Car owners can check USA TODAY’s automotive recall database or search NHTSA’s database for new recalls. The NHTSA website also allows you to search for recalls based on your vehicle identification number or VIN.
Here are the vehicle recalls published by the NHTSA from Sept. 10-Sept. 18.
Nissan recalls: Altima, Sentra
Nissan is recalling 153,376 of its specific 2019-2021 Altima and 2022-2021 Sentra vehicles because of damage to the camera harness, causing the rearview camera display image loss. According to a NHTSA report this can reduce the driver's rear view, increasing the crash risk.
If a fix is necessary, dealers can replace the rearview camera and harness free of charge. If no damage is found, the dealer will apply protective tape and reroute the rearview camera harness. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed on Oct. 19, 2023
